This is a basement bathroom we did about a year ago for one of our repeat customer. Mr. L did a few projects with us before and recently moved to a new house.
So the call came in to renovate one master bathroom, and build from scratch a brand new basement bathroom. We started by renovating the master bathroom, upon completion of that project we moved on to work on the basement bathroom.
Usually this is the course of action when someone wants to do more than one bathroom renovation at the same time. We recommend completing one renovation and then starting another one to have at least one fully functional bathroom in the house
So we gladly got to work and two and a half weeks later, the project was finished.
This was a little bit more than a normal bathroom renovation as it involved opening up of concrete floors and installing brand new plumbing system. Thanks to our partner company John The Plumber, we promptly and professionally did that and were on our way framing walls, installing new drywall and taping.
This is a smaller bathroom so it was one crew consisting of a lead installer and a helper to set the tub in place and to help with heavier things.
Customer opted to go with a larger flooring tiles 12”x24”, which we elegantly set in staggered tile. Yes of course over the Ditra.
Walls above the tub were water-proofed with Schluter’s premium Kerdi wall boards and the tile selected to go above the bath tub was again 12”x24”, set in straight pattern.
This combination of patterns with the same type of tile really created a nice effect. Then we added two vertical decorative boarders for that final touch. See the results for yourself. But we think it turned out to be very beautiful.
Tile for this project came from our local Ottawa Tile supplier. The EuroTile and Stone. We took customer with us to shop there and with some help of our design consultant they nailed down this type of tile.
The rest of the project involved a dark stained vanity, which was a stock item at local Lowe’s store. We installed a larger baseboards without any shoe mold for that clean look. Paint was color coordinated to enhance both flooring tiles and vanity and the result is a spectacular basement bathroom.
Customer is very happy and another job well done.
